About Personal Security

Personal security is the freedom to live without fear of violence, coercion, or abuse. It is the most immediate and intimate form of human security—protecting individuals from harm in their homes, workplaces, communities, and institutions. At Human Security United, we work to prevent violence in all its forms, including domestic abuse, police brutality, hate crimes, and gender-based violence. We advocate for survivor-centered policies, trauma-informed care, and community-led safety initiatives. Personal security is not achieved through surveillance or punishment, but through trust, equity, and care. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their body, identity, and daily life.
